Anonymous asked: You had Calasanz as a teacher? Wow, that's very fortunate! I've read his stuff on Philosophy and I especially liked his Phenomenology of Love. What's he like in person?

This Asker sent me this follow-up ask: “Oopsie, wrong title. It was his essay on My Body, I think. It was great. Calasanz, I mean. Made me want to major in Philosophy instead!”

I felt the same way! Couldn’t swing a double major, though, so I minored instead. Graduated a semester later than everybody else but I don’t regret it. :)

‘ssssup.

Anonymous asked: How must your officemates feel about you? Because you know what? You are great.

Haha! I don’t actually know! They probably know me as the girl who dresses inappropriately, comes in to work disgustingly late, and plays weird music from her cubicle. Also one of the first to pass out at office parties. Klassy.

Thanks, though. :)

oxfordcomatose asked: i ran into calasanz when he was in the adsa. lol i got suspended for bringing a bottle of tanduay to school. ~#thuglyf#~

OG ka pala, Marvel. Hahaha. <3

Anonymous asked: Oh, I thought you were a copywriter! And who's Calasanz? Anyway, I try think of clients as patrons with deep pockets instead. Ho ho ho. (Don't tell them)

I’m a copywriter! Also, I’m surprised you graduated from Ateneo without running into Calasanz.

Good thinking there. But it’s pretty difficult to maintain that perspective. ;)

Anonymous asked: Hi Petra! I'm a recent Ateneo grad. I'm still thinking if I should go client side or agency side. Just curious, where are you working now? And how long have you been there? I love lit too, but my brothers are teasing me the usual cliche, that I'll be selling my soul. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I don’t really want to tell people where I’m working now, but I pretty much gave it away in previous posts. I’ve been here for a year and two weeks now.

Being Accounts for an agency is the (un)happy medium of the agency/client decision, I think. You get to see how both systems work, and figure out which one attracts you more. I’ve seen a lot of cool crossover stories — accounts kids who became creatives, creatives who became clients, etcetera — so don’t worry too much about who to swear your loyalty to just yet.

I love literature, I still love literature, I love it intensely. I don’t think I’m selling my soul, though Calasanz said to me it wasn’t a big leap between being a liar for poetry to being a liar for advertising. Haha. Think of advertising as a playground where you can make awesome sandcastles with tools like literature, philosophy, business acumen, personal chorla, etcetera. People like to look at sandcastles. Sandcastles can make people think, too. :)

Anonymous asked: Okay. Ano ka ba?

Problema mo. Ata.

:D

Anonymous asked: Sino yan anon na bastos? =( Ok Petra, thanks for your help! =) Thinking of taking IMC now. See, you're really made for advertising! Hahaha Martin's your boss? Hahaha small world! I like his braid.

Ewan ko diyan. As for IMC vs. Copywriting, pahabol! I’ve had a few Comm kids tell me they didn’t enjoy the IMC class. (Those aren’t the exact words, but I’m nice on the Internet.)

As for being made for advertising, I don’t know about that. I don’t think anyone’s made for anything; we just bend and extend accordingly. :) Like Martin’s braid. Haha.

Anonymous asked: Sino ka ba? Bakit maraming nag-i-interview sa 'yo? Saang ahensya ka?

Let us take a moment to reflect on the beautiful irony of an anonymous Ask inquiring: “Sino ka ba?”
